Chatsworth, Calif. – Aug. 21, 2008 – Pentadyne Power Corporation, the world leader in flywheel energy storage systems, has been named by Inc. magazine to its Inc. 500 list.

Pentadyne was ranked #162 overall among the 500 companies that made the list. Among the top 100 energy companies, Pentadyne was ranked #7. Among businesses in the Greater Los Angeles area, Pentadyne was ranked #12.

Inc. magazine reports that Pentadyne “Designs and manufactures environmentally responsible energy storage products. Pentadyne has tapped into the green economy: its products are an affordable and sustainable alternative to the dozens of environmentally hostile lead-acid batteries commonly used with larger scale uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. Since Pentadyne shipped its first clean energy storage system in 2004 to NASA's Glenn Research Center, its products have amassed over 2 million hours of proven reliable operation in facilities around the world.”

The Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2004, and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales. Additionally, they have to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent -- not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies -- as of December 31, 2007. Revenue in 2004 must have been at least $200,000, and revenue in 2007 must have been at least $2 million.

“Hitting the 162 spot on the list of Inc. 500 companies – and particularly ranking number 7 among all the energy companies on the list – is amazing,” said Pentadyne President & CEO Mark McGough. “This is yet another great milestone for Pentadyne and recognition of our tremendous growth over the last few years as we have become the world’s leading manufacturer of flywheel energy storage systems.”
