Chatsworth, Calif. – Oct. 15, 2008 – Pentadyne Power Corporation, the world leader in flywheel energy storage systems, today announced that Department of Defense contractor <a target="_blank" href="http://www.beaver-online.com">Beaver Aerospace & Defense</a> has awarded Pentadyne its Critical Supplier Award. This Critical Supplier Award was presented to Pentadyne “for meeting the rigorous quality and delivery demands” of the military deployment program. Last year, Beaver Aerospace & Defense placed a <a target="_blank" href="http://pentadyne.com/site/2007-news/051407.html">$4.5 million order</a> for Pentadyne DC energy storage systems that are being deployed at military sites. Beaver Aerospace’s procurement of Pentadyne systems has continued with follow-on orders this year totaling $4.9 million. In Beaver Aerospace’s Department of Defense energy recycling applications, the DX-A2 rated (certified for national defense use) flywheel system absorbs regenerative energy of a decelerating mass and stores it until later reused to accelerate the mass. This is similar to the way hybrid vehicles capture deceleration energy and later release it to aid acceleration and minimize fuel consumption.
